IDENTITY
The Badge
There are basically 5 parts of the crest; they are as follows:
The trophy: The elegantly shield-shaped, golden-yellow-rimmed trophy connotes the Club’s strong foundational resolve to compete as champions in all spheres, win trophies and achieve elite status.
The ball and the stars: The red ball surrounded by 11 stars connotes the Club’s resolve to always create a strong magnetic force that attracts and endears the best players, staff and supporters to the club. It’s also symbolic of the official founding date of Champs City – 11 January 2011.
The helping hand: The red outstretched arms lifting the ball and the stars depicts the Club’s undying energy and resolve to speak to humanity and influence the world positively through sports.
The ribbon: The red and gold lined ribbon on which the Club’s name is written is an emblem of victory.
The black shield-shaped inner core: The black inner core is dual representation of its base in Enugu (aka Coal City) and its Africa origin.
Our Brand Essence
The words – sport with soul (soccer with soul – specific to football), were thoughtfully coined to convey the Club’s commitment to upholding the human ideals of love, dignity, healthy competition, dream, diversity, prestige, spirituality, etc.
Underlining the philosophy is the drive to influence the world positively through sports, on and off field. It’s our desire to give a great number of people around the world a reason to live, something to hope and smile for, something to celebrate, something worthy of working for and a height to aspire to.
It was necessary and pertinent from inception that the Club needs a strong brand essence that will stand the test of time and that embodies meaning and power to guide it during good times and challenging times. This flows from the understanding that Champs City transcends sport, entertainment and passion; it focuses on upholding human dignity as it touches the heart, enriches the mind and connects the spirit.
Our culture and tradition is strongly rooted in the concepts of community and care, dignity and excellence. In fact, we see sports as an instrument for achieving social harmony, economic empowerment, cultural reawakening, community development, national and international integration. It is also an opportunity to excel and promote healthy competition.
Our Nickname
The Unstoppables (aka Champs)
Red: Depicts the club’s energy, strength of character and power.
Yellow: Depicts our intelligence.
Black: Depicts our courage, confidence and origin.
White: Stands for our humility and faith in God.
Our Style
Champs City’s style and designs are inspired by the unique qualities of Pride of Barbados and Sunflowers. Once the flowers blossom, butterflies will show up. These features define our style:
Incredibly magnetic
The Club’s image and style draw strength from the incredible qualities of the Pride of Barbados and Sunflowers. The Pride of Barbados is considered to be the most beautiful tree in the world. The blooms of Pride of Barbados are incredible with terminal flower clusters showing an orange-red with a tinge of gold on the edges. Each flower is composed of five incredibly showy petals. The striking orange-red flowers are, any day, an attention grabber and butterflies love them. The Sunflowers are equally as beautiful. The Club’s image and style, at all time, must reflect and emphasize this incredible magnetism.
Resilient
Pride of Barbados is a heat loving plant. The flowers bloom best in full sun. It easily grows in alkaline to acidic soils. Champs City must bear and project an image and style that performs well not only under mild environment but also under adverse conditions.
Sensitive
The Pride of Barbados is evergreen in frost free environment, while deciduous under freezing temperature. It is however draught tolerant. The Club must portray an image and style that embodies sensitivity and innovation.
Just like the plants referenced above, our style, image and designs strive to meet the criteria for a classy and global brand.
